Riding a bike with weights

Postby Norman » June 9th, 2012, 4:54 pm

Can anyone provide info about riding a bike whilst wearing weights. Sky Pilot has had a problem when going over a bump. There hasn't been any mention of this by other stretchers yet.

I ride a Schwinn Grey Ghost ( Krate series Stingray) with a banana seat, in my kilts. The weights stay parked on top of the long seat horn - no problems with weights, hang or kilt.

I'm thinking that when I get a couple inches more hang, I'll be able to wear the weight going down one side of my pants, with the seat resting above the stretcher. That way, when I go over a bump or something, it would be the seat hitting my stretcher from above, rather than hitting my balls from below, and crushing them against the ball weight.

I'll take it off before I ride for now, I guess. I think I made a pretty funny sight - riding with my knees sticking out, trying to give my balls/stretcher room to maneuver!

Yes, once you have a long dangle with a well padded seat and loose bike shorts - hang running down one leg works well. You still need to be careful getting off the bike not to hang the weights on the underside of the seat - will get your undivided attention fast.

Thank Chuck,

It must be a sight to see you flying around the city with your kilt around your chin! It must be quite an operation for you to adjust yourself before takeoff, dangle down one side of the saddle horn, dongle down the other. Photo please!

PS I am determined to get onto my bike again now that the osteopath has just finished with my hip!

I have never done the Marilyn Monroe on the bike - the front aprons just plaster themselves around the seat horn and post.
I have a nylon hiking kilt that has gone full Marilyn twice in the front yard while hand watering the lawn in the wind. I have a heavyer kilt pin on it now! Lady freind across the street keeps her field glasses handy to "watch the birds"...

Chuck,
I hadn't realised that I was communicating with a blonde bombshell!
The British royals always wear kilts when in the Scottish highlands. Their kilts are fitted with some sort of belts and weighting system which ensures that they never lift above the knee (unless they want it to. Lust has been known to raise them to the waist!).
You must keep your neighbours on red alert; I suppose that all the telephones in the neighbourhood start to ring when you are spotted outside the house, men and women! Good on yer!

There is no need with the traditional kilts, they are made of fairly heavy fabrics ( classicly wool ) - great for GB with cold wet winters a 3 weeks of summer - would fry this desert rat here - although, hang would be to knees now . I mostly have cotton solids and poly/viscose tartans - the hiking kilt is the only truly lightweight and wind prone of the bunch. And 30+ mph wind is very common here. Would make a good swimming kilt?
LUST - Did I mention instant access!

As an IronMan triathlete.. I ride with my weight on all the time. Never during a race.. but often during work outs swimming, on to the bike and run. Most recent long ride was 50 miles. No issues. I’m curious how it’ll go when I add my second weight.
