WMC ® Magnetic Ball Weight - Review

Postby tundraman » July 20th, 2015, 12:57 pm

I ordered one of these WMC ® Magnetic Ball Weights to try it out.
Dave wouldn't let me pay for it so, in exchange, I am reviewing it here.

The good is it is real easy to get on and off - without tools!

You need to install it a little different as the magnets "snap" it shut versus the regular WMC where you can work any skin out of the gaps as you close it with finger pressure.
You need to make sure no skin is in the way before bringing he gate close to the WMC body. I put the body on with the gap to the front and place fingers along side (above and below) the ring gap and with my thumb pushing the ring body forward. I clear the gap of skin and put the gate on. I then rotate whole ring to clear any stray hairs from the gaps. For me, the hairs slide out pretty easy without plucking any.

The ring seems to stay closed and aligned quite well. This is a great design for adding non permanent weight to the stack.
I have worn it at the bottom with a 30mm above it as a test run to the store with no issues even though I wear my rings quite snug for my single testicle issue. Note that I wear kilts, not constrictive pants that would add tugging and sliding pressure to the hang and rings.
The magnets are quite strong but there is a limit to their holding force. I would not recommend using this at the bottom position (where the opening force is at is highest) with a lot of weight on top or with tight pants. It will work great further up in the ring stack.
It will probably do well alone if you aren't stuffing your hang down a snug pants leg or past tight brief leg bands where fabric folds and elastic hems can get a it and pry it open.

This is a great tool to add to my stretching collecton.

@Tundraman

Thanks for your wonderful review ..... I guess the messuring procedure to find the right ID of a WMC ® Magnetic Ball Weight to buy, is the same as for the regular split WMC® ball weights joined together with a allen bolt right ?

I might consider adding one WMC ® Magnetic Ball Weight to my ball weight collection aswell, however first order from Dave's website on my wishlist is the "Sniper's Bullit" :D

@Dave
I miss the individual weights on the page of the WMC ® Magnetic Ball Weights on your website ..... I geuss they're pretty much similar to the regular 15mm WMC ® Split Ring Ball Weights but just thought I'd mention it.

Cheers !
Sam

Good question - I assumed too. Easily checked. Got these scales for the little test batches of shea mix.

My Magnetic 15 x 32 WMC weights 199.8 gms and my regular 15 x 32 WMC weights 197.3 gms.

Maybe magnets are denser or maybe just manufacturing variation.
