Thanks so much for the information, Tundraman! Never TMI- As a new stretcher, I'm trying to learn as much as possible. This week, I will be ordering the 30 mm x 34 mm WMC. I was just thinking, if the 15 mm x 32 mm WMC is a little snug, should I get the 36 mm due to the 30 mm ID seeming to run smaller than the 15 mm WMC?

Just a quick clarification, I promise. I measure all my rings accurate to 0.05mm and with WMCs their IDs are accurate plus or minus 0.2 mm. The 30s just act and fit on my hang like they are about 0.5 smaller than the 15mms.

Makes sense. I think I'm going to go with your advice and get the 34 mm x 30 mm WMC. I'd like to go with the largest ID possible that won't slip off. Unfortunately, I just don't know how much of a difference the 2 mm makes as I go up in size. I know the 32 is definitely too snug.

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie on this forum and ballstretching (as you can see from my dyi, weights in my avatar ... lol) and have found this article very helpful, so thank you all for your contribution !

In fact I've done my first 12 measurements today and came up with an average ID of 32mm (I've averaged the min. ID of 29,5mm and Max.ID of 33,7mm). However I'm somewhat concerned I've squeezed the skin of my sack too much with the plastic strip used to measure the diameter.

Having said that, all advise is welcome and will certainly be taking into account when buying my first WMC :D .
Thanks in advance !

Welcome to the site :D
It sounds like you used my strip method.

Did you do the wear test OK?
You can also use Jarod's string method for a second check. Remember string is a little stretchy in nature so try to stretch it about the same on the ruler as you did on your hang. http://www.secretleather.com/jarod.joha ... asuresteel

Question - do you drink a lot of coffee or take any "wire-me-up" meds? They will tighten you up too.
I take Sudafed (pseudoephedrine) at times knowing I will be about half contracted for about 8 hours. I back off on the coffee at these times. WMCs are lousy earrings.. :(

coffee, maybe a cup or two most days.
Yesterday morning, I was outside working on some maintenance things and I could feel the shrink coming, which was extenuated by lifting and carrying things. I decided to unweight for the few hours and let it do what it wanted.
Earrings - no, paper weights -oh yeh. Sidenote: There is this woman where I work that has a paper weight on her desk that is a steel ring with little objects jelled in a glass center. Every time I see it, I think it's a ball weight :D

Thanks, the ID on that weight is 32 mm, but it was too tight. I've since gone up to a 30 mm x 34 mm and I think I could go up to a 36 mm.

tugme , The paperweight gives me ideas for some of my unused rings. Fill with clear polyester resin with a pair of peanuts in the center...
