verifying weight size

Postby silkpurse » May 6th, 2012, 4:24 am

Hey guys,

I'm suffering from terrible anxiety over whether or not I've measured myself right for the 15mm wmc's. The first measurements I took a week or so ago, all hit between 5 and 6 inches initially. Tonight I measured, and really pulled the string snug, and the numbers were all about 4.5". I loosened up a bit, and ended up back at 5.5.

That's a pretty big range, all the way from the smallest of about 27mm to the largest at about 37mm.

I looked at Jerod's photos, and it doesn't look he's pulling the string very tight. Is that the way to do it? If so, that'd put in the upper range of 33 - 37mm, so I'm guessing a 34 would be the best?

I know all that about, "don't worry if you get them too big, you can always fit them over a smaller one," but I can't afford to drop $100 on weights that don't fit.

Any suggestions for double-checking my measurements to be certain?

Thanks,
Henry

The most popular start out seems to be 36mm. You dont want to go too small or you will turn your balls dark purple. I was lucky that before I found out about this site I had bought some very cheap and pretty uncomfortable weights off of ebay I think. I bought a 1.5 inch diameter which is about 36mm I think and it was a good size so thats why I ordered a 36mm. I dont use the ebay ones at all anymore, I just look at it as a few bucks spent so I could invest in the right size wmc. But as I said I had done this before I even knew of wmc's which is why I never had to use the measuring system.
--> 1mm seems insignificant until you try to stretch a piercing or your urethra <--

silkpurse i also kind of had to wing it. the pictures in the guide can be a bit misleading, especially since jarod already has such a huge hang. here's my little post regarding that: http://www.secretleatherforum.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=87
i already had a bit of hang so i was able to get the string tight around my sack above the balls and get a 'tightest possible' measurement for when it was was most relaxed. i then loosened the string a bit and got several measurements. i repeated this for a few days and then used my best judgment to pick a size, erring on the larger side since a ring too small will go to waste but a ring too large can still be used down the road on top of a smaller ring. i've only had my wmc ring for a few weeks and it has been very comfortable and rather perfect, but one day one of my nuts slipped out so maybe it is slightly too large....

You guys have it correct. Jarod and I measured for our first WMC with a pre existing hang. Jarods very long and mine with only one testicule. It's the reason we beg for pictures - to add to our knowledge for sizing and to look for signs of too tight or too loose with the string ( or hoseclamp ) or with a WMC.
The zero and near zero hang is about half guess work as the measurer is has little to work with and this is totally new to tthis field. About 3 weeks ago, on the Rantillion site, I kept one guy from ordering a 40mm when what he needed was a 34mm.
BTW, I am happy to crunch the numbers for anyone. If you don't come up within the 32 to 36 mm range to start let me help save some time and cash.

Chuck, thanks for your input. From all the measuring and reading I'm doing, it seems like 34 is the place for me to start. I took my measurements with a fairly wide shoelace, rather than a string, cause I thought it'd be more accurate. With the lace pulled really snug, I didn't do the 25% reduction, and though you have to kind of guess where the decimal goes, it came out right at 34 mm. And then with a looser measure, and the 25% reduction, the range was 33 to 37. I think I'm gonna take a deep breath and hope, hope, hope I've got it right. You've seen the pics I've posted on here. Does that seem like a reasonable size?

Silk I think the only picture I have seen is with the weighted leather. Your avatar is more informative. Shoe lace is quite stretchy - I hope you were stretching it on the measuring stick too? Do you have a tailors tape in the house? It's a plastic coated cloth tape. It will be with the sewing supplies - any one who sews has one. Alternatively cut a 1/2" strip from a plastic soda bottle ( Large - ) and mark it with a fine point felt top to measure.

Just to be sure on the number crunching -

C=D X 3.14 which translates to D = C / 3.14 ( C = circumfrence, D = diameter, 3.14 = pi )

1 inch = 25.4 mm

The reductions from 100% above are 20% for max 26% for min. Or 0.80 and 0.74 multipiers.

I think the advice about the "tight sac" is very valid. I used the measurement procedures and ordered 34 mm. When you factor in the Shea Butter making everything slick as heck my ring can slip off fairly easily when my testicles get uneven. Forturnately I also purchased a one inch silicone ring which I place on first or should I say load my sack into. This allows me to place the WMC on top with relative ease and keeps it in place. I will probably order a 32 ring today to place below the 34. Any thoughts on my use of the silicone ring (which I call a training ring) as my base or bottom ring. Under pressure even it will slide and pop off my scrotum. This is my first week into the program so hopefully will see some progress by weeks end.

Thanks

Added a 30mm wmc last seek. Nothing slides off now but is a bit tight. 32 mm on the way. Will eventually stack both 34's above. Starting with no hang makes measuring very difficult to get an accurate fit.

We are all still scratching our heads on how best to measure a zero and near zero hang. Seems like everything is stacked against getting It right. And it's a moving target as you gain some hang - too many things change. Best ID seems to decrease most of the time, but initially you can't start that small. I started with 34 and 36mm and settled out at 32.1mm ( Dave and I hope - LOL) a year later - same measurement system and the 34 was quite snug at the time. Have given away my 36 and larger 34 to a newbe friend (two balls - LOL) - he is going through the same "fun" I did.

So I need to know how tight these should feel once they're on. I tried looking back at Jerod's article, cause I remembered something about being able to slip a finger in under the weight, which I can do, but it really, really snug. I ended up getting a 35mm 2-piece steel ring, and I think it may be just a little snug. And if that's the case, how much space do I gain going to a 36 wmc?
